abandoned theme parks

Image
1. The abandoned theme park that I would like to go to is Six Flags in New Orleans. Out of all the abandoned theme parks, I think this one had the best photos. I love the theme of the carnival  with all the statues of creepy faces. This theme park had the most character and the abandoned merry go round looked very cool. 2.   3. abandoned water park/ pool     abandoned school     temple ruins     rocky mountains, colorado     Nagasaki, Japan (shadows) 4. Over the years, many photographers have documented the aftermath of the bombing in Nagasaki, Japan. Yosuke Yamahata was one of the first photographers to record the devastation, taking his photos only one day after the bombings. 5. I think it would be fun (and sad) to photograph there. I think the history and significance of that place is important and interesting. I am especially interesting in the shadows that still are scorched in building in Japan today. They are black outlines of the people incinerated by the bomb.

1. I think it is so amazing how the photographer could get that close to wild animals. And all the animals are poised and not moving. I also think his choice to make the photos black and white completely changed the mood of the pictures. 2. 3.This photo shows a flat field with several giraffes. What caught my eye in this photo was how the light came through the clouds. I think it makes the photo look very angelic like. The angle he took this photo I also liked because it made the giraffes look like they were so tall that they touched the sky. 4. This photo has balance in it as well as the rule of thirds. The giraffe that is focused on it in the right side of the photo, off-centered. 5.  Nick Brant uses a Pentax 67 with a 120mm lens. 6. He takes his photos to show the animals before their home is destroyed. He likes the look of the animals in their natural habitat. 7. He hopes to help save the animals habitat by showing the beauty of the animals before their homes are destr

1. I really like how simple his photos were, yet they had a photo behind them. I also am really interested in taking photos of people and Gowin took many photos of his wife's  family. 2. I see two boys holding their ears. I smell the sweet scent of fresh cut grass. I hear the quack of the two ducks. I taste the dew that sits on the grass. I feel the air clinging to me because of the humidity. I see the deep lake in front of me.  I smell the mist of a summer morning. I hear the flies buzzing past me. I taste the hint of breakfast from this morning. I feel the cold seep in through my sweater. 3. I think a poster would be a good was to display my photographer. It is easier to hang up.

1. I think that doing a series of photos of differ people around Bowie would be a good idea, also taking pictures of dogs around Austin would be interesting. 2. I think we should open it up to normal cameras too because they would take better photos. 3. I think the photos should be put at the front entrance of the school. That way people can see them as they walk in.

Emmet Gowin was born on December 22, 1941. He went to Virginia Commonwealth University and married his wife, Edith Morris. Gowin attended the Rhode Island School of design. Three years later he had a solo exhibition at the Dayton Art Institution. His early photos were inspired by his family. In 1973, Gowin was invited by Peter Bunnell to teach photography at Princeton University. He taught there for the next twenty five years. In 1974 he received the Guggenheim Fellowship and that allowed him to travel in Europe taking photos. He was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship as well as the Pew Fellowship for the Arts for his work. In 1980, the Seattle Arts Commission granted him a fellowship to travel to Washington and the Pacific Northwest. He took several photos of Mount St. Helen after the eruption. The Queen Noor of Jordan invited Gowin in 1982 to take photos of historic places in that country. He retired from teaching at Princeton in 2009. Gowin and his wife li
