sports portfolio evaluation

Entries:

1. Sam Adams
2. sports (BMX)
3. the shots have the back of someones head, the background is interrupted by an irrelevant object, not enough movement
4. his silhouettes, the facial expressions
5. I liked the portfolio, I think it was very diverse in subject matter and the photos were shot with the appropriate shutter speed. The only thing that bothered me was that some of his photos were shot too wide and ruined what could have been a good action shot.

1. Carlos Delgado
2. picture story, sports
3. cluttered background, the color is off due to over editing, he doesn't avoid mergers
4 some photos are focused well, tells the story of the paralyzed lady well (good content)
5. I was really bothered by the backgrounds of most of his photos, he didn't really take any consideration when choosing his shots. Most of the photos I looked at were obviously over edited and even though I don't know too much about editing, it was obvious to me.

1. Justin Mott
2. picture stories
3. the focus is not right for the photo, portfolio was not built correctly, some photos were not interesting enough
4. he does a good job with composition, they are graphically advanced
5.I thought this portfolio was very good. The photos seemed very real and I liked that the story they told was obvious. I also think he did a good job with the black and white photos because they can often be edited wrong.

Winner:

1. The photos were very unique and in the action. They were very tight when it was close up action and the others were very wide when they needed to be. Also very creative with the angles and the staged photos were not only creative, but well shot.
2. It was the only portfolio that was consistently well shot and used the right editing and frame. I think he did a great job being unique and the photos looked like they had time and effort put in to each shot. The blur and focus in them were also very professional. The only thing I didn't like was the photos he shot from above were not very interesting and lacked the uniqueness that the rest of his photos had.

Recap:

1. They compared all of the best portfolios once again and then began to narrow down the to the ones that had the most photos in it that got no criticism.

Parts 1-6:

1.I agreed that the tennis shot was first place. I think that for a photographer to take an interesting photo even without the face shows skill. I also liked the tennis racket that was thrown up because it wasn't blurry and it was silhouetted.
2. I did not agree that the rugby photo should get first place. Only two faces of the three people were shown and I didn't think there was anything special to it. It just looked like a typical action photo to me.
